Obituary

On May 10, 2024 Cynthia Lucille Saunders joined her Savior, Jesus Christ, in Heaven. After a brief but valiant battle with ALS, Cyndi breathed her last physical breath and received her new, perfect body free of restrictions and pain. She spent her final days surrounded by her loving family and the many friends she made throughout her vibrant life.

Born on June 5, 1955 in Upland, CA to Clifford and Lucille Crickette, Cyndi grew up with her 3 siblings Glenna, Carey and Dolly. Cyndi moved to Alaska in 1977. She married her beloved husband Wes on June 3,1984, and together they raised their sons Joe and Woodsen.

Cyndi was known for her exuberant personality and her ability to make every gathering memorable. Her enthusiasm was infectious, her kindness boundless, and her presence a gift to all who knew her. She brought light and laughter to everyone she met. An avid lover of all things water, Cyndi savored her time in the ocean or a pool, swimming, or leading water aerobics classes. Some of Cyndi's happiest days were spent at the beach or in the pool, teaching her grandchildren to swim and sharing her love of the water with them.

Cyndi was also passionate about having a voice, helping others make their voice heard in local and national government and being a voice for those who could not have a voice themselves. She was always looking for ways to to help and serve others in her community, supporting causes that she believed in. With a smile on her face and a lighthearted joy, she was determined to make a difference.

Even as ALS challenged her physically, Cyndi's courageous spirit shone through. She faced her diagnosis with the same positivity and hope that characterized her life, inspiring all who witnessed her bravery.

Cyndi is survived by her loving husband Wes, her son Joe and his wife Erin, her son Woodsen and his wife Danica and her adored 11 grandchildren: Madelyn, Olivia, Lanie, Wesley, Atlee, Hadley, Melozi, Cooper, Yukla, Cash and Eska.

Cyndi’s joyous legacy and her love for life’s simplest pleasures will continue to inspire all of us.
